Mei Hua Yin   My Way Blocked By Snow
Jiang Jie (Song Poet)

Here I moor my lone boat and whence asks me a white seagull,
Are you putting up only your torso or together with your soul?
If you are putting up also your soul,
Why knitted your eyebrows?
The wind flippers the curtain and so the little lamp tosses,
Vis a sis my shadow I sit idle,
Amidst serene solitude I recall the visits of old,
Companies who travelled with me in those visits, where they are now no one can tell,
In those days when blossoms bloomed fascinatingly beyond the boudoirs,
Hand in Hand we strolled under the willows after mooring our boat,
Oh dreams, sweet dream cameos,
But even therein I could not relive my sweet visits of old,
Only the chilly waters inanely roll and flow,
Boundlessly spread thick layers of clouds,
Snow soaks through my quilted clothes,
No one is as habdab-stricken as myself,
Amidst the snow there are only the plum blossoms to share my dismals.

Yu Mei Ren   Listening to the rain     Jiang Jie (Song Poet)

As a youngster I listened to the rain in song parlours,
Captivated beside crimson candles and layers of upholsters;
As a grown up man I listened to the rain as a wayfarer,
In a boat with dark clouds overhanging on a broad river,
While the west wind brought with it the mournful cries of a wild goose loner;
Now I listen to the rain the eaves of a monkery under,
My temple hair already hoarily simmers,
Ineluctably bruising are all joys and sorrows, reunions and sunders,
I just let the rain drip throughout the night on the steps of my door.

Yi Jian Mei  My boat passing River Wu Jiang      Jiang Jie (Song Poet)
Looking for wine to quench my spring glum,
Boats on the river rock in concerted rhythm,
Inn-signs up on buildings touting for taverns,
The Autumn Maid Pass and the Mother Tai Bridge are soon left in the distance,
Gusty winds and rains are cutting in all at once;
When can I make it home to wash my travelling garments,
And play my flute on which silver characters are written,
Burning incense shaped in the heart character I’d make wishes solemn,
Fleeting time leaves people stricken,
It’s just time to usher in again the reddening cherry and greening plantain.

Ru Meng Ling      Jiang Jie (Song Poet)

The bright moon shines on the limpid brook beside which bamboos flutter,
On the water a phoenix is mirrored,
Morning dew on wild flowers over the rocks glitters,
So are the crimson crests of white herons dew smeared,
Half my life I’ve gone seeing the world everywhere;
But nothing can be compared to this hamlet vista,
What a hamlet vista! A hamlet vista!
Wielding axes in the woods are the firewood cutters,
And tilling their fields in straw capes are the farmers,
While fishermen in their boats toil over the water.
