昨夜星辰昨夜風，畫樓西畔桂堂東。
身無彩鳳雙飛翼，心有靈犀一點通。
隔座送鉤春酒暖，分曹射覆蠟燈紅。
嗟余聽鼓應官去，走馬蘭台類轉蓬。

Tonight I stay in the painted pavilion on the west thinking of you in the osmanthus hall on my right,
Though we are no pair-winged rainbow phoenixes,
Connected with a magic ring in our hearts we are telepathically entwined;
I recall we sat next to each other and shared the warm spring wine with delight,
Rearranging our seats we revelled in the game of lantern riddle under the crimson candlelight,
Now I have to attend morning levees as the morning drum strikes,
Hereafter I will be a piece of weed floating around out of sight.
