To Procurator General Yuan While Espying at Yueyang
Amidst the Dusk Flush When I Go from Xiakou to the
Parrot Ait Liu Changqing (726-786)
Over the Jing River Ait there are neither
mists nor billows,
Thinking of the Chu poet Qu Yuan I am
plunged at an abysmal loss,Amidst the flush of the setting sun in Hankou birds fly off,
Spreading up to join the heavens are the Lake Dongting autumnal waters,
From the desolate city wall reclining on the mountain come the military bugles amidst the chills,
On the solitary tree by the river I anchor my boat at nightfall,
To Chngsha Jia Yi was demoted for his admonishing memorial,
This tragedy had been deplored through the ages from of old.
