Untitled (2)           Li Shangyin  (813-858)

Difficult it is for us to meet, yet it’s even more difficult to sunder,
So impotent is the east wind that all flowers have withered,
The silk-worm stops spinning only when it expires,
The candle turns into ashes before it stops shedding tears,
My hair turns grievously white in the morning as reveals the mirror,
I feel chills of the night while intoning poems the moon under,
No way I can reach you now in Penglai,
Only by sending green birds to look in on you obligingly can I be assured.
