蝶戀花      歐陽修(1007-1072)

庭院深深深幾許？ 楊柳堆煙，簾幕無重數。
玉勒雕鞍遊冶處，樓高不見章臺路。
雨橫風狂三月暮，門掩黃昏，無計留春住。
淚眼問花花不語，亂紅飛過秋千去。

How deep this unfathomably deep courtyard really is?

Willows enshrouded in clouds of mists,
Idly I pine behind layers and layers of curtains, portieres and upholsteries,
His exquisite carriage must have stopped at some stews visiting mistresses,
Even on the high tower I can’t see the road leading to the stews where he is on the spree,
The third month is about to leave,
At dusk wind and rain are so rough that I have to close the door to shut out their heave,
But somehow spring has already taken amiss,
Tears in my eyes seethe,
I ask the flowers but they just not heed me,
Leaving only flittering petals fly with the wind and rain over to the idle swing messily.
