清江       杜甫  (712-770)

清江一曲抱村流，長夏江村事事幽。  

自去自來梁上燕，相親相近水中鷗。  
老妻畫紙為棋局，稚子敲針作釣鉤。  
多病所須惟藥物，微軀此外更何求。  

The river village Qingjiang         Du Fu (712-770)

Cuddling the village the Qingjiang River flows,

In the long grueling summer everywhere in the village serenity and peace hold,
Swallows on the beams freely come and go,
Seagulls on the river enjoy their intimacy without being ruffled,
My wife works hard at drawing a chessboard on a piece of paper for a game to unfold,
My little kid is striving to make a fishing hook out of a needle,
All my ailing body needs is healing drug doses,
What else can my humble body ask for other than those.
