聯步趨丹陛,分曹限紫薇,
曉隨天仗入,暮惹御香歸。白髮悲花落,青雲羡鳥飛,
聖朝無闕事,自覺諫書稀。
To Left Remembrancer Du Cen
Shen (715-770)
Up the vermilion imperial steps
we ascend together,
To the right and left of
the Chancellery we work in different sectors,With the ceremony of the emperor’s levee at daybreak we enter,
Bearing scent of incense from the imperial burner we retire in the vesper,
My hoar hair reminds me I’m withering like a flower,
But like a bird you soaring right into the clouds I admire,
At the moment our country is right in the midst of a quiet and peaceful era,
Admonishing memorials for the emperor have naturally become much fewer.
