春夜別友人 陳子昂

春夜別友人     陳子昂(661-702)

銀燭吐清煙,金尊對綺筵;
離堂思琴瑟,別路繞山川。
明月隱高樹,長河沒曉天;
悠悠洛陽去,此會在何年。

Bidding a friend farewell in a spring night
Chen Zi’ang (661-702)

Light smoke whiffs from the silver light of the candle,
With the gold goblets we’d drink each other farewell in this grand farewell party for me you throw,
Music from the zither aggregates my sundering sorrows,
Hereafter I’ll have to cross numerous mountains and plateaux,
Behind the tall trees the bright moon now goes,
The Milky Way dims away as twilight grows,
Hereon to the faraway Luoyang I strike the road,
Will we ever see each other again like the days old?
