岱宗夫如何？齊魯青未了。
造化鍾神秀，陰陽割分曉。
盪胸生層雲，決眥入歸鳥。
會當凌絕頂，一覽眾山小。

Contemplating Taishan      Du Fu  (712 - 770 )

How is one to depict this paramount of mountains?
In all parts of Qi and Lu one never misses its viridescence,
In it the Creator has converged everything celestial and magnificent,
Dusk and dawn find its north and south sides a demarcation,
From the hiker’s panting chest layers of clouds spread out in patterns,
Of his espying eyes homing birds suddenly fly into vision,
One day I must stand on top of its highest peak,
And espy how all other mountains grow insignificant.
